If you still want more after visiting the interpretive centre, be sure not to miss a guided tour to see a real working coal mine first hand. Experience the scale of the operations and the massive equipment used in the coal mining industry. Contact the Centre for details.
As part of our commitment to the environment, BMA Blackwater will partner with BICC to re-locate a number of large bottle trees to the Centre grounds. The trees were marked to be destroyed as they were in the path of a new haul road at the mine. Bottle trees are common in the Blackwater area, and have been included in the logos of mining companies in the area.
Dragline boom to become part of Centre The Blackwater International Coal Centre has been successful in securing a 60m section of a giant dragline boom to be relocated to form part of a walkway into the Centre. When the boom is installed, visitors will walk underneath the structure as they enter the building, and in doing so realise the massive size of equipment used in the coal mining industry. The boom will be just one more attraction that makes the Blackwater International Coal Centre unique in the world.
